First Out Of The Gates: Word out of San Diego is that Antonio Gates is dealing with severe pain in his foot after tearing the scar tissue a couple weeks ago at New England. In a story out of the San Diego Union-Tribune, Gates is quoted: “I think physically you get an idea about where you’re at by going out and playing and running around. Prior to the Patriots game, I felt like I could still be who I am. The way I was running around in New England … Practice wise, I’m ...

Hines Ward (ankle) set to return against Ravens

Hines Ward, who practiced on a limited basis yesterday, has said he will play against the Ravens after missing last week's game because of a sprained ankle.

With Emmanuel Sanders likely out this week, Ward will likely be on the field for all three-wide sets. Antonio Brown is simply a more explosive option at wide receiver than Ward, making him an inconsistent WR4/5 at best.

Emmanuel Sanders expected to miss game

The Steelers expect to be without Emmanuel Sanders on Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens.

Sanders' mother passed away this week, and he has been in Texas all week with his family. Her funeral is Saturday, and Steelers offensive coordinator Bruce Arians said he doesn't anticipate Sanders playing the following night.

Stevie Johnson to be shadowed by Darrelle Revis

Bills WR Stevie Johnson is expected to be shadowed by Jets shutdown cornerback Darrelle Revis Sunday.

Johnson is averaging 5 catches for 41.6 YPG over his last three ballgames, so he's not exactly riding a hot streak coming into this awful matchup. It would be surprising if weak-armed Ryan Fitzpatrick targeted Johnson much this week, making him a risky WR3 this week.

Pierre-Paul limited Thursday with neck injury

Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul was limited in practice Thursday after hurting his neck when he collided with a teammate.

His neck was examined for "precautionary" reasons, said defensive coordinator Perry Fewell, who expects Pierre-Paul to play Sunday. He has racked up 8.5 sacks and one forced fumble this season.

Nicks (hamstring) not expected to play Sun

Hakeem Nicks (hamstring) hasn't practiced this week and is not expect to play Sunday against the Patriots.

"My mentality is I like to bounce back from injuries quick," Nicks said. "This is something you got to be smart about. We got a long season ahead of us. If I have to sit one week and come back the following week, I'd rather take that than being out for a while." Nicks aggravated his hamstring in the fourth quarter of Sunday's win over the Dolphins. He said his range of motion is getting better and he doesn't anticipate missing any more than one week, if that.

Bradford (ankle) returns to practice Thursday

Rams QB Sam Bradford practiced Thursday for the first time since he suffered a high ankle sprain on Oct. 16.

Bradford participated in passing drills, taking snaps from the shotgun, but he didn't participate in any "team" portions of practice. Said coach Steve Spagnuolo, "He threw some passes today, no team work and just kind of stood around and got most of it mentally. He's trying. Not quite there yet, so we'll see what happens tomorrow." We'll have a clearer picture on his status this week after today's practice.

Rams WR Alexander misses Thursday practice

Rams WR Danario Alexander (hamstring) did not practice Thursday after doing some limited work on Wednesday.

Coach Steve Spagnuolo said Alexander felt it "bite" on Wednesday, so he was shut down Thursday rather than push it. Alexander has appeared in five games this season, with 16 receptions for 296 yards and a touchdown.

Tolbert to carry the load against Packers

Mike Tolbert will serve as San Diego's every-down back this week against the Packers.

Ryan Mathews hasn't practiced this week and is almost certainly out with a groin strain suffered in Monday's loss at Kansas City. Third-stringer Curtis Brinkley also suffered a concussion in that contest, and has yet to gain clearance to play. With the backfield all to himself, Tolbert is a solid RB2 play this week.

Ward (ankle) misses practice Thursday

Hines Ward (ankle) missed practice Thursday.

Ward has adamantly stated that he will play, but with the emergence of Antonio Brown and Emmanuel Sanders as solid options in three-wide sets, his snaps will likely be reduced. We would recommend seeking other options this week.

Gates (foot) practices Thursday, looking healthy

Antonio Gates practiced for the second straight day Thursday.

Gates practices on Wesdnesday for the first time in six weeks, so it appears he's as healthy as he's going to be. Gates caught five passes for 54 yards and a score last week, and is a must-start as long as he is healthy.

Zach Miller cleared for full practice Friday

Seahawks TE Zach Miller (concussion) has been cleared to practice fully starting Friday.

Miller, who has missed the past two games, was limited Wednesday and expects to play this week against the Bengals. He's not a fantasy option in standard formats.

Tolbert misses second straight practice Thurs

Mike Tolbert (hamstring, hand) missed practice for the second straight day Thursday.

If he doesn't practice tomorrow, he'll likely be tagged doubtful for this week's game. Ryan Mathews would be a borderline RB1 if Tolbert is unable to go. We'll have more on his status after tomorrow's practice report.

Mike Tolbert Source

Beanie Wells (knee) limited in practice

RB Beanie Wells (knee) was limited in practice Thursday, and is expected to participate more Friday.

Much will depend on how he feels after tomorrow's practice, but it appears Wells may be headed for a game-time decision against the Ravens this week.

Peterson (ankle) limited in Vikings practice

Adrian Peterson (ankle) returned to a limited practice Thursday

Peterson said he "tweaked" his ankle last week against the Packers, and sat out Wednesday to rest up. He'll be good to go Sunday against the Panthers, and should be locked into lineups as an elite RB1

Adrian Peterson Source

Evans, Grubbs, Reed miss practice Thursday

WR Lee Evans (ankle), LG Ben Grubbs (toe) and Ed Reed (neck) were absent from Ravens practice Thursday.

Reed is dealing with a stinger in his neck, but the team didn't sound overly concerned about him missing time earlier in the week. He'll be out there Sunday.
